New Mom and Teacher Nails the Daily Rollercoaster of Emotions of Being a Working Mother

It’s true that being a new mom is one of the hardest yet most rewarding jobs in the world. And that goes double when you’re a new working mom of twins.

Ashley Depierro, a teacher from New Jersey, welcomed her identical twin boys Giovanni and Luca in August of 2019. In an inspirational Instagram post, Ashley shared everything her new role has given her—the joy, exhaustion, guilt and struggle to do it all.

Her honesty reminds us just how damn hard it is to adjust to the pressure of having a career and babies, no matter how cute they are.

Ashley shared that while she loves her career, she waits all day to come home and see her little ones, then gets hit with a newfound exhaustion the second she gets home. She finds herself waiting for bath time, then is hit with the overwhelming guilt working moms know all too well.

“I waited all day to be with my babies and then so quickly I want to put them to bed?! I know soon I’ll figure out this new normal, i mean it hasn’t even been a month yet but until then it’s HARD. I hope they understand how much I love them. I’m not a perfect mom but my sweet boys I would do anything for you,” Ashley wrote.

Even though it gets easier, we feel for this mama. Plenty of commenters could relate and offered words of support.

“It’s all normal, and remember you have TWINS! This is a challenge in itself and worth every beautiful moment regardless of the hard times. You will figure it all out! Pray about it and be patient. It is a very hard job, but worth it, and you are doing fantastic!” Heather Webb wrote.

“My kids are 11, 10 and 9. All boys. I still feel like this some days. Some days I’m a referee more than a mom, some days I’m the yeller, and then some days are amazing. It’s tough,” Brittnie Potter commented. “But we got this! They are so worth it!! As they get older and help with household chores things do get a little easier!”

In other words, some days are good and some days are bad. Most days are full of the good, the bad and the ugly. Being a working mom can certainly be an emotional roller coaster, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
