Because kids are still learning how to be humans in this world, it’s extremely important to have patience and treat them with kindness and understanding, especially if you deal with them on a regular basis. That’s why we’re particularly shocked by what a New Hampshire mom says a teacher did to her daughter.
Jillian Miglionico’s child, who attends Somersworth Middle School, allegedly had her hair cut by a teacher during class.
The mom tells CNN affiliate WMUR the teacher had told her daughter to stop playing with her hair, and when she continued to do so, he threatened her, saying, “Well, if you don’t stop playing with your hair, I’m going to cut your hair off.”
Her daughter responded by telling him he couldn’t do that, to which he replied, “Oh yeah? Watch me,” Jillian said.
That’s when the teacher proceeded to use a pair of scissors to snip off three inches of hair from the girl’s head.
Understandably, the mother is upset. “If you’re going to act like that with a middle school student, I don’t think that you should be able to be around and teach middle school students,” Jillian told WMUR. “I don’t want this man around my child.”
In a statement obtained by CNN from Robert Gadomski, superintendent of the Somersworth/Rollinsford School Districts, the district is aware of the incident. “When it was reported to us we moved swiftly to address the situation,” the statement read. “We moved forward in two ways: First we made sure that supports were in place to ensure the safety and success of our students in the classroom and throughout the building. Secondly we handled the situation as a personnel issue using our district policies and procedures.”
However, the mom isn’t satisfied with the outcome. She told WMUR that on Monday, she found out that the teacher only missed three days of school while the investigation happened. “…Now he’s back in school and they put her right back in his classroom so it’s basically like a total disregard to her,” she said.
